VISITING THE INN: Due to our small staff size, we are unable to accept drop-in non-guest visitors or tours of the Inn at this time. If you have questions about the Inn, please call 833.BEARBNB or email info@sleepingbearinn.org.
CHECK-IN TIME: Check-in time is between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM EST. Check-in after 6:00 PM is possible with prior arrangement and may incur an additional fee. If your travel is delayed, please text or call 833-232-7262. Early check-in may be available starting at 1:00 PM with advance purchase of $30. Early check-in must be arranged prior day of stay.
CHECK-OUT TIME: Check-out time is 11:00 AM EST. You may spend additional time in the common areas and on the grounds of the Inn after check-out is complete, until noon. Please inform the Innkeeper if that is your intention.
PARKING: We have private parking to accommodate our guests. Please consult the Innkeeper should larger vehicle/multi vehicle accommodation be needed. Sleeping Bear Inn is located within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and a park pass is required. Passes may be purchased at the Park Service Headquarters in Empire or online at https://www.nps.gov/slbe/index.htm
RATES: Rates are for single or double occupancy. All rates include our hot home-cooked elegant breakfast with a complementary (typically sweet) treat in the evening. While we try to keep our website up to date, all listed rates are subject to change without notice. Rates are subject to all taxes and a nominal credit card convenience fee.
OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy for each room is two guests. The number of guests must be specified when booking each room. Each guest room has one bed and we do not provide roll-away beds.
RESERVATION AGE REQUIREMENT: Guests must be 21 years of age or older to make a reservation.
PAYMENTS: We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and cash.
DEPOSIT POLICY: For reservations, a deposit equal to 50% of the cost of your stay will be taken at the time of booking. A second deposit equal to the balance due for your stay will be taken at the point that a reservation is no longer cancelable which is 14 days prior to your arrival date. Certain packages and promotions may have different deposit policies that apply.
STANDARD CANCELLATION: Should you need to cancel a reservation more than 14 days prior to your arrival date, we will process a refund of your deposit in the form of a Sleeping Bear Inn Gift Certificate (which doesn't expire and is transferable) less a $35 processing fee. If you cancel 14 days or less prior to your scheduled arrival, no refund certificate will be given. "No calls" & "No shows" will be billed for 100% of the reservation. Gift certificate recipients are subject to the same cancellation polices.
BREAKFAST: A plated meal served in the dining room or porch at 9 AM EST daily. Times may vary by season.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: Please make us aware of any dietary restrictions or food allergies prior to your stay. Unfortunately we are not able to honor same day breakfast menu changes. We will do our best to accommodate any restrictions, and please know, we do not have an allergy-free kitchen.
CHILDREN: The Inn is set up as a getaway destination for adults and our facility is not equipped to accommodate children under the age of 8 years old. Children visiting the Inn with parents are expected to be supervised at all times.
NON-INN GUESTS DURING YOUR STAY: Common areas of the Inn and grounds of the property are solely for the use by booked guests or patrons of the Inn. Many guests who stay with us are here to visit friends and family or attend a local event however, to ensure the comfort of all overnight guests, we require guests gain preapproval before inviting non-guests to the Inn. We reserve the right to limit the number of non-guests visiting the Inn at any time.
MULTI ROOM BOOKINGS and SPECIAL EVENTS: When one party or group books all Sleeping Bear Inn rooms, it does not mean it is an agreement to book the whole Sleeping Bear Inn property including common rooms or grounds. Sleeping Bear Inn is a small Inn, it is not an AIRBNB business. If you are booking all rooms for a special event such as a small wedding or reunion, please contact the Innkeeper to arrange an “all room rental agreement” which will include additional property uses and can be added for additional charges. Only guests who have reserved a room may stay at the property.
SMOKING/ VAPING AND CANDLES: We are a non-smoking facility, including vaping. We do not allow candles. We ask that all guests smoke or vape outdoors in our Western Parking Lot or in your car. Any smoking or vaping in the Inn will result in an immediate request to leave and an additional cleaning fee of $500, plus your room charges.
QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM EST every day of the week. Guests may come and go as they please.
OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINK: We ask all guests refrain from eating in their guest rooms however, please feel free to eat in the main dining room, porch or outside on the knoll. Plates and silverware are available for your use in the main dining room. We do not allow any use or guests in our Inn kitchen, nor do we allow guests to prepare and cook food in their guest rooms. We are happy to prepare additional meals for you including “grab and go” and those charges can be added to your room bill. We provide a common refrigerator in the second story hallway for guests. Currently alcohol is not sold on property. Guests of age (21 years+) are welcome to provide their own adult beverages.
PETS: We do not permit pets.
